Calling All Volunteers!

JDRF relies on hundreds of volunteers to meet its mission. These dedicated individuals, organizations and companies commit time, money, services and energy to our search for a cure – we couldn’t do it without you! It does not matter where you live or what your connection to type 1 diabetes is (or if you have one at all!) – we would love to have your help!

How can you help?

• Help out at the office.
  We have mailings to stuff, stamps to stick, photos to file, envelopes to seal, media calls to make, and a database to keep up-to-date!
  
  
• Volunteer at an event.
  Pass out t-shirts or help set up for the Walk sites. Be a part of the team putting together the silent auction on Gala night. Each year JDRF Illinois needs a virtual army of volunteers to make our well-regarded special events a success.
  
  
• Provide support to other families and people living with type 1 diabetes.
  Our outreach program works to recruit, support, engage and connect the type 1 community, including all those with a connection to type 1 diabetes. Volunteers help support our core outreach program components: Bag of Hope, Mentoring, Online Diabetes Support Team (ODST) and start local support groups.
  
  
• Serve on a committee. Help fundraise for our events. Coordinate a Walk site. Help plan our Gala program. Solicit items for future auctions. Serve on our Corporate Recruitment Committee and tap into your professional contacts to help create a new partnership. • Participate in our Government Relations Program.
  Sign up to be an Advocate and contact your elected representatives about diabetes-related policies. Hundreds of advocates throughout the state write letters, send e-mail, and make phone calls to state and federal officials whenever an issue of importance to diabetes or healthcare policy surfaces.
  
  
• Use your company’s matching gift program. Many companies match or even double employee contributions! It’s an easy way to make your gift to JDRF Illinois go even further.
  
  
• Help out at health fairs and other outreach activities. We are asked to send volunteers to talk about JDRF to many events each year. Help be our voice and share your personal story!
  
  
• Donate through your business. Make a gift of your printing or design services. Use your public relations firm to help get media coverage for a chapter event. Donate a company product or an item for our live and silent auctions. For more information about in-kind donations, please call (312) 670-0313.
  
  
• Join our Auxiliary Partners Program. Hold a party for JDRF! Coordinate a restaurant opening, baseball game, race, motorcycle ride, garage sale, or special shopping day – with the dollars raised benefiting JDRF and diabetes research. The only limit is your imagination!
